Handcrafted Bretagne, France

All our pieces are made in our workshop in Brittany, France by a team of skilled craftsmen.

Don't have enough stock of the part you want?

No problem! We manufacture parts directly to order.

Please note that there is a manufacturing lead time, which varies from part to part.

Manufacturing lead times for made-to-order pieces

All our products are handmade by our craftsmen to our exacting quality standards, and it takes several years to master the skills of Memento Temporï.

We work with terracotta, a natural, high-quality material that sometimes breaks in the kiln, forcing us to start from scratch.

For all these reasons, it sometimes takes several weeks to create a Memento Temporï object.

Material : Terracotta

Used for thousands of years, terracotta can be used to create pieces that are close to the originals.

Unlike plaster or resin, terracotta is heavier, more fragile and more difficult to work with, but the finesse of the material, the feel and the range of finishes all combine to create exceptional pieces with a soul.

Engobe or glaze decoration

All our pieces are hand-decorated by our craftsmen.

We use two methods for decoration and finishing, which vary depending on the piece:

- Engobe decoration: this is one of the oldest techniques used to decorate ceramics. It consists of clay to which colour pigments are added. The possibilities are endless, allowing fine, precise decoration. However, it neither protects nor solidifies the ceramic.

- Glaze decorations: Glaze is difficult to work with and is used to add a transparent or coloured layer of glass to ceramics. This layer, made up of minerals, waterproofs the pieces and makes them more resistant. Coloured glaze gives vivid colours and an incomparable shine.

Cleaning and care

The pieces can be easily dusted with a soft cloth or feather duster, for example.

Note that pieces decorated with engobe are waxed and patinated to give them a more or less shiny historical appearance.
